The main activity of the company is the production of breaded fish products and pizza and pancakes. As of August 2022, the focus is solely on the production of fish products. The finished products are sold under the ESVA brand, which has been known for over 30 years.

In 2022, the following important activities and circumstances affected the turnover and financial results of Paljassaare Fish Processing AS:

In 2022, the company sold 10,226 tons (2021: 11,512 tons) of finished products, of which breaded and deep-frozen fish, surimi and vegetable products accounted for 8,529 tons (2021: 9,128 tons) and pizzas and pancakes 1,697 tons (2021: 2,384 tons). All production is sold 100% to group-internal distribution companies.

The use of rental labor continued. Based on needs, workers from Ukraine were actively recruited directly, without intermediaries. Cooperation is done with one specific labor rental partner. During the year, both internal and external training was organized for employees.

At the end of the year, the number of employees was 118 employees (2021: 151 employees) and the wage bill, including unemployment insurance and social security contributions, amounted to 3,167 thousand euros (2021: 3,938 thousand euros).

No remuneration was calculated for the company's council, the remuneration of the board accounted for 44 thousand euros (2021: 42 thousand euros) of the wages.

In November 2022, a planned but unannounced certification took place at the factory based on BRC (hereinafter British Retail Consorcium) v8 and IFS (International Featured Standards) v7, as a result of which AS Paljassaare Fish Processing received a certificate with the highest A+ rating (BRC) and the highest level (IFS) for the following year.

The closed package filling quantity compliance check and filling quantity assurance system supervision audit carried out by AS Metroserd took place in March 2022, during which confirmation was received that AS Paljassaare

The next certification audit of MSC (hereinafter Marine Stewardship Council) took place in August 2022.

Having an MSC certificate gives the company the right to use MSC labeled fish raw material and to mark it in its product specifications and packaging. According to MSC rules, the fish used as raw material is caught in an environmentally friendly way. To date, interest in MSC products has remained and as a result, more and more inquiries are being made about the possibility of switching to MSC products, as a result of which our MSC product range is growing.

Annual internal audits within the company and the group take place, which have now become ongoing processes throughout the year. Including at the management review signed in January 2023, all the most important business areas and processes of 2022 were evaluated and new targets were set for 2023.
